Decent quality but, the hood cap does not fit well, to a point you do not want to use it. Other wise it does fit well in to the lens.

Godd product. Be careful when tightening, the threads are plastic. If you are careful, it will tighten up and become part of the camera or camcorder.

I am usually hesitant of “bargain” priced add ons and was pleasantly surprised with this Mennon DV-2 37mm Screw Mount Lens Hood. Simplistic in design, well made and inexpensive. It fit right onto my Canon Vixia HF10 Camcorder, the locking ring ensuring the proper alignment of the hood to the camera. The hood cap w/umbilical cord is a nice feature adding to the anti-dust/dirt security to the camera’s lens. I would not hesitate recommending this item to anyone looking for this type of accessory.

Plain and simple… this has proven to be a great hood for my Canon Vixia HG20. The main reason to use a hood of course is to prevent picture anomalies from light glancing the lens or filters at angles which can reasonably be prevented by a hood. The size and design of this hood are just right for almost any usual use.

I bought this inexpensive hood as an accessory for my Canon HF-100 video camera. If Canon made it, it would have cost $50 at least. I wanted something to reduce the glare when filming outdoors, and provide some extra protection for the lens area. The hood is not visible at the widest angle of my standard lens, but I don’t know if that’s still true for those of you who bought the add-on wide angle lens. It does obstruct the video light (which is harsh and too bright anyway). Nothing really lost there.
It was very easy to attach to the threads on the front of the camera… it has a rotating disc that can be tightened without rotating the whole hood. This makes it easy to keep the hood perfectly horizontal, with the written text on the hood in your preferred orientation (top or bottom). In terms of size, I think this is a perfect complement to my little camera. Together with my external mic (Canon DM-100) it looks like I have a miniature professional video camera. Wait… I do!
